Reading the report

Read it with confidence.

A certificate of analysis (COA) records the tests performed on a sample. Start with these three checks.

Match the product & batch

Check the product or material name and batch reference. A report for another batch is not a match for the bottle in your hand.

Check the test details

Read the lab name, report date, test method and results. Check the units and any limits or notes alongside each result.

Understand the scope

Test panels differ. Each document covers the sample and tests stated in it; it does not answer every question about a product.

Where do I find my batch number?

Look for a batch or lot reference on your product label or packaging. If it is missing or hard to read, contact us with the product name and a photo of the label. An order number can also help.

What is the difference between a COA and a chromatogram?

A COA lists the reported tests and results for a sample. A chromatogram is an instrument trace from a chromatography test. Read it with the method, sample details and results in the accompanying report.

Why are the documents different between products?

Products and batches may have different available documents, test methods and panels. Open each file to see exactly what it covers. If the batch you need is not listed, contact us so we can help locate the relevant information.
